Breakfast:

Hands down, there is no comparison to Red’s.  Set in the historic London Coffee House (site of a covert meeting of Colonists during the Revolutionary War), Red's Sandwich Shop serves up fantastic food at great prices. Red's is amazing any time of day, but breakfast is our favorite. Red's is located at 15 Central Street.

Sit Down Lunch/Dinner Top Choices:

  • Gulu-Gulu Cafe 247 Essex St; grilled cheese and the Millennial Chicken are amazing. Right across from Harrison's comics...epically amazing on so many levels.

  • O'Neills  120 Washington St; Steak 'n' cheese and Cobb salad are a must!  Plus, check times for the Irish music too!

  • Sea Level Oyster Bar Pickering Wharf; EXCELLENT views of the Harbor. Family favorites include the Baked Sea Food Pie and their American Burger.

  • Sidelines 105 Canal St; pizza is good, because it is slightly out of the downtown area it is always a great spot.  Lots of TVs to watch various games too.  Beer is served in football glasses, does it get any better?

Quick Food: (inexpensive; limited seating inside but you could bring to the Common to picnic)

Sweet Treat: (Great places for sweets)

  • Coffee Time Bake Shop (96 Bridge Street) We buy our family birthday cakes all year long, they are the best cakes around, plain and simple.  They also have donuts and many other sweet treats.

  • Whimsey's Sweet Life (26 Front Street) Chocolates, ice cream and some great gifts!

  • Good Night Fatty (1 Washington Square) BEST COOKIES ever; they put things together you would never imagine trying...but do it. They are usually only open on weekend eves. Fri, Sat nights 5-11 (check website) and Sunday for breakfast 8 am-10 pm  https://goodnightfatty.com/

  • Ye Olde Pepper Candy Companie  (122 Derby Street) Oldest candy shop in the US, their candy is amazing.

Outside of Salem: (you won’t want to leave and come back it will be difficult to find a place to park; but if leaving for the day)

  • Treadwell’s Ice Cream 46 Margin St Peabody; The portion size, the flavors, the friendly staff. Love this place.

  • Kelly’s Roast Beef Liberty Tree Mall; I was not a roast beef fan until I ate here.  The fries are also pretty great.

  • A&B Burger 206 Cabot St Beverly; their burgers are a huge hit with everyone in the family.

  • Bonefish Harry's 218 Cabot St Beverly; their avocado rangoon, totchos, and porky pig tacos were awesome. We played music bingo and the apps were a huge hit with everyone in the family.
